Augh, Will, are we done yet? I swear, this sea water is wrecking havoc on my--

[The sound of water and waves and not much else follows for a moment.]

Where...? ...! Where are all the bodies?! And the ice?! WILLIAM, DID YOU JUST LEAVE ME IN THIS BOAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ATLANTIC?! WILL?! RONALD! Ronald Knox, so help me, if you took off just because of a little overtime, I am going to---!! Ugh! Will! Wii---

[...She doesn't remember.

He breathes through his mouth to make as little sound as possible, a trick he picked up in his teens, as he switches on the audio, trying to think of whether or not to answer.

He should leave her be. Allow the severed connection to remain severed. He forgives her, and she is no longer burdened with the memory. Everything is perfect. If he draws her attention, it only opens up more problems.

But the closure. An audible inhalation as he prepares to speak...]

[...Along with an audible exhalation as he realizes how stupid an idea this is. It's not even her he wants closure with. It never has been. She, and everyone like her, is only a substitute for another.

Welcome to Purgatory.

Still, he can't leave her out in the cold. So he switches to writing and offers:]

Leaf through this long enough and you'll find a guide.

[...oh.

Oh.

This is familiar.

Yue almost just closes the journal again, almost just ignores that voice, but for some reason he's in a better mood than usual (though for him that's... not saying terribly much). And so he'll just sigh, sounding much like someone who just discovered the neighbor's dog decided to eat his tulips.]

...it's you.
simplestgift: (I need a hug.)

[Should he or shouldn't he?

He really, really shouldn't. He's imagining Buffy yelling at him right now. So for now, he won't respond. He'll merely monitor her progress. Not at all checking to see if she's about to destroy their quarterboat, if that's indeed the boat she's in, or who she's potentially about to destroy.

That, and he's just scared. Not very Navy of him.]

[The roar of the chainsaw wrecks Lupin's tenuous attempts at concentration, causing him to start and glare at the offending journal--as if the gaze would cause it to burn. Nothing. He was prepared to punt it across the apartment again when the voice speaks up.

Oh.

It was a New Feather.]

Hey, quit your yelling. You make it hard to think.

[He pauses for a moment, listening to the water in the background.]

Where the hell are you?
redjacketthief: @ starkxravingxmad (attention-- keen observation)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-03-05 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Yep. New Feather. Lupin audibly sighs at this and plops down on the floor in front of his journal, skinng legs crossed underheath him, and stares at it.

Switching off to video is tempting, but he refrains. He's also gentleman enough to not point out that whomever is on the other line doesn't sound very much like a lady to his own trained ears. It could be dealt with later.]

...If you're in the water, I'm not there. Do you see a book anywhere near you? It's a bulky, annoying thing that likes to follow you.

...no.

[Honestly, he hadn't even noticed that Grell had been gone, but— this behavior is more like something from a New Feather. Must have been gone and back again, then, more's the pity.

And why exactly is he helping? Momentary insanity, Yue supposes, but he'll still respond.]

The book. It's for communication.

[Another sigh, this one with the overtone of "fine, be willfully ignorant if it suits you."]

Pay it no mind, then. Good day.

Oi! You okay Miss?

The wings aren't for flying, unfortunately.

[Oh, so you do want to talk.

Yue pauses in the act of reaching to close the journal again, frowning as he inwardly debates the merits of just completing the action or actually trying to talk to Grell. Not only Grell, but a newly-arrived Grell who... well, all right, isn't trying to call him "Angel".

Yet.

Okay, fine, but one comment on his wings and he's hanging up.]

I suppose you don't remember, then.

This is Luceti. The wings and the book are part of this place.
redjacketthief: @ starkxravingxmad (dork-- can't camera)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-03-05 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
[...he flips to video, mostly to help the redhead get a better idea...

He'd be lying if he said he wasn't more than a little conflicted, but that conflict isn't evident behind that friendly, if mildly irritated expression on his face. Helping people like this wasn't really his thing, but he was acting in part with a small amount of gratitude to someone else once more.]

This book? Well, do you know what a cell phone is? or a telephone? [He's shooting blindly here--the prior mention of the Atlantic clues him in that their worlds might be a little similar.]
winged_moon: (yue anime up close)

[voice]

[personal profile] winged_moon 2012-03-05 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
You've been here. But you wouldn't remember. It's... complicated.

[There's another sigh, and the faint sound of rustling feathers as Yue shifts his wings.]

The ocean is part of Luceti. There's a village to the west, where everyone else lives.

Our captors thoughtfully provided us with these books in order to communicate.
redjacketthief: @ starkxravingxmad (wtf-- wait a minute)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-03-05 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
[HOLY GOD YOU'RE NOT A LADY SHUT UP!! Lupin doesn't say this, however--instead he stares askance at the redhead through the feed.]

It's a camera! A video camera, like the movies. This book is more like the unholy bastard child of a laptop and personal journal--you can write in it, talk to other people with journals through it, take videos, what ev.

I don't get it either. It's all a part of the magic of Luceti, I guess.
